COMPLEMENTARY TREATMENT

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP)

PRP is prepared from the patient’s own blood. Its use in knee care requires defined indications, preparation standards, safety measures and follow-up.

01

Specific indications in Brazil

Brazilian Federal Council of Medicine Resolution 2,464/2026 regulates PRP as a complementary treatment for specified musculoskeletal conditions, including knee osteoarthritis and meniscus repair.

02

Its role in a treatment plan

Assessment establishes the diagnosis and goals, considers contraindications and explains expected benefits, risks, scientific limitations and alternatives.

03

Expectations and follow-up

PRP does not guarantee cartilage regeneration or a cure. It does not replace surgery when indicated or other necessary treatment. Brazilian rules do not establish approval or coverage in other countries.
